School Visits – Older Teens

Whole School Assemblies

Across the Sahara and Beyond!

Many schools and colleges have enjoyed Sarah Mussi’s thrilling talks. With real life adventures from the Sahara Desert, West Africa to the mountains of Wales, Sarah provides a fascinating insight into the challenges that the world around us can offer.

After a brief introduction (who actually is Sarah? – How did she write her books – What inspired her?). Sarah engages students with the pertinent themes her books cover. In a mix of dynamic, well-paced activities, with readings, PowerPoint presentations and Q & A sessions – Sarah sets up a series of questions that help students get to the heart of topical issues. Students are encouraged to embrace higher level thinking tasks, such as engaging with questions of: What does survival mean?

(e.g: The survival of the physical self versus the survival of the qualities that make us human (SIEGE), or what might happen if the bees disappear (BREAKDOWN).)
